UnitedHealthcare Pharmacy
Network for Brown University

Your School's Student Health Insurance Plan uses the UnitedHealthcare Pharmacy Network.

How do I find a participating pharmacy?

United's pharmacy network includes the Brown Health Services pharmacy, national retail pharmacies such as CVS and Walgreens, as well as local independent pharmacies. To locate a participating pharmacy, visit us online and enter your school's name, then choose the "Find Pharmacy" link.

Most of your pharmacy needs can be met at the Brown Health Services pharmacy, which participates in the United network. Prescriptions can be filled at the Brown Health Services Pharmacy from outside providers, as well as transferred from another pharmacy. Please call 401-863-7882 to speak directly with the pharmacy staff.

How do I find a listing of covered prescription drugs?

The formulary can be found online. Choose your school name, then click on "Find Pharmacy" and use the drop-down to select the "PBM National" link.

You can search this document for specific prescriptions to determine their copay tier, if preauthorization is required, if a prescription is excluded from coverage, if supply limits exist or if the prescription needs to be obtained through the specialty pharmacy.

How do I fill my prescription at a pharmacy?

To pay only a co-payment for prescriptions, they must be filled at a UnitedHealthcare participating pharmacy. Show your ID card when filling a prescription to be charged the applicable co-payments for your prescription drug program.

How can I submit a claim for a prescription paid for out-of-pocket?

Download a prescription drug claim form.

Is Mail Order Service available?

Yes. Medications that are taken for a chronic condition can be filled for up to a 90-day supply using UnitedHealthcare's (UHC) Network Pharmacy Mail Service Prescription Drug Program. Mail Order Prescription Drugs are available at 2.5 times the retail copay up to a 90-day supply, up to the maximum allowed benefit.
